Colorado Draws New Districts
A Colorado panel charged with redrawing state legislative districts plans to discuss proposed final maps after going on a monthlong tour listening tour.
The 11-member bipartisan commission is meeting Monday after spending August touring the state.
The panel known as the Reapportionment Commission will submit its proposed new districts to the State Supreme Court for approval by Oct. 7.
Legislative districts are redrawn every 10 years to account for population change.
How State and Senate districts are redrawn can impact the Legislature’s balance of power for the next decade. Senate Democrats currently have a 5-vote advantage while in the House, Republicans have a one-vote edge.
