Colo. Woman, 99, Gets Probation For Fatal Crash

A judge sentenced a 99-year-old woman to two years of probation for causing a crash that killed a father of two.

A Jefferson County judge also ordered Vera Carucci on Friday not to drive during her probation.

The judge had the option of sentencing Carucci for up to a year in jail but that prosecutors didn’t think that would be appropriate.

Vera was convicted earlier this year of careless driving resulting in death, a misdemeanor.

Authorities say Vera crashed into Joe Bixler on Aug. 30, 2010 while he rode a motorcycle on Highway U.S. 285 in Jefferson County
