Local Group Takes Stand Against Rapper

Army troops say a famous rap artist on an international level insulted them. Now soldiers and their families in Southern Colorado are taking a stand.

?It is just very disrespectful to every Army soldier, saying what are they fighting for. When he can say that because they are fighting for what he can say,? says Amanda Harding whose husband is in the Army.

The song is called “Let’s Be Real.” The controversial phrase pops up close to the 40-second mark when Soulja Boy raps ?(Expletive) the FBI, and (Expletive) all the Army troops.?

Right after hearing the song, Harding, her family and friends say they were enraged.

Harding started a Facebook group called ?Stop The Playing Of Soulja Boy- Lets Be Real,? with the goal of stopping the song?s distribution, and the online response has been immense.

Nationally, people angered by the song have also been taking to other websites and even Soulja Boy?s own Facebook fan page.

Another member of the Southern Colorado group says that the rapper?s remarks not only hurt soldiers, but their families as well.

?Soldiers kids who looked up to this guy and listen to his music and now they are hearing this man say, ‘ (Expletive) troops.’ They are like, ‘He is talking about my dad, mom, sister, cousin,’? said Breyanna Dollmann.

On Tuesday, the musician announced his upcoming album would not include the song. Soulja Boy also apologized online, but members of the local group feel that is not enough.

?Go to an Army base. Actually, give a full-fledged apology. Do something about it,? said Anthony Keenan.

The rapper claims on his Twitter account that he was taking aim at the government spending more money on war than education, but that he did not mean to offend members of the military.
