100s of Drivers Checked At DUI Checkpoint
Colorado Springs police conducted another DUI checkpoint Saturday night as part of the Colorado Department of Transportation’s ‘100 Days of Heat Campaign’.
There were 741 drivers pulled over in the 700 block of South Academy Boulevard. Police evaluated 13 drivers for driving under the influence.
Six drivers were cited for DUI and five others were ticketed for having an open alcoholic beverage container in their car.
The checkpoint lasted for about four hours Saturday night.
Police also set up a checkpoint on Friday night. Officers stopped 679 drivers. Five people were evaluated for driving under the influence. Two were cited for driving under the influence.
Officers said if all the extra checkpoints and patrols prevent just one drunk driving crash, then all of their hard work is worth it.
