Selena Gomez Brings Thousands To State Fair

Selena Gomez is the reason thousands of teenage girls from all over Colorado were in Pueblo Saturday. Her concert sold out months ago.

State Fair officials called this year?s State Fair an exciting one because of the concerts they?ve booked.

A handful of teenage girls dressed up like their favorite pop star, Selena Gomez. It was for a chance to win tickets to her concert and the opportunity to meet her backstage.

?She is my favorite pop star in the world. If I could meet her it would be my biggest dream in the world,? said Ashlyn Ortiz.

The talent contest was based on appearance, personality, originality and overall stage presence.

“We heard a lot of the success of the ticket sales for this so, we were expecting a very good turnout early on. We did not expect this,” said Matt Centner with Comcast. Comcast was one of the sponsors for the contest.

?We have had a great year. We end tomorrow with Los Lobos, but certainly sort of the highlight of the fair this year is Selena Gomez,? said Colorado State Fair General Manager Chris Wiseman.

They have had 8,000 people attend the fair than last year. Some even driving as far as Lubbock, Texas, for their chance to compete.

?Me and one of my best friends our birthday is on Monday and this is our birthday present,? Jude Al-hmoud, 14. Al-hmoud’s friend Haleigh Stuart won the tickets. The two became friends while waiting in line to perform for the judges. Stuart won six tickets to the concert and took Al-hmoud.
