Officials Investigate Suspicious Odor At CO School

Students at a western Colorado elementary school will have classes at different schools while officials investigate the cause of a suspicious odor that hospitalized 22 students and a teacher this week.

Garfield County school district officials say inspections so far have found no elevated levels of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide or natural gas at Graham Mesa Elementary in Rifle.

Officials say students won’t have classes Tuesday and starting Wednesday they will be attending two other area schools while the investigation continues.

The suspicious odor was reported to the Rifle Fire Protection district Thursday morning.
