8th Street Walmart Back Open

Shoppers at the 8th Street Walmart in Colorado Springs were evacuated Wednesday morning after the store received a bomb threat.

Police told KRDO Newschannel 13 the caller said “this is a bomb threat,” before hanging up.

“Out of an abundance of caution, our store was closed upon receiving the threat,” said Kayla Whaling, spokesperson for Walmart.

Police and canine units spent about three hours investigating the threat inside the store and throughout the parking lot.

Customers and employees were evacuated to an area across the street and police blocked all store entrances during the investigation.

No bomb was found and the store opened early in the afternoon.

The investigation into who made the call is ongoing. Police are asking anybody with information to call 444-7000 or remain anonymous by texting the tip to TIP411.
