Early Morning Gunfire Reported At Colorado Springs Apartment

Police are investigating whether a gun malfunction led to a shot being fired just after 2 a.m. Monday at the Meadow Apartments. The shot went through two apartment doors and lodged into a water heater.

Police are reporting no injuries from the shooting but are investigating into whether this was an accident.

Sgt. Steve Noblitt of the Colorado Springs Police Department said they are searching for malfunctions within the gun. “The things you have to consider is that if you have a firearm, you have an ultimate responsibility to handle that weapon with care.”

Neighbors in the area said that they are concerned with what happened but are not completely surprised because police have been at that apartment a number of times.

No one has been arrested and police continue to investigate the shooting.
