El Paso Sheriff K9’s Are Top Dogs

Two El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputies and their K-9 partners were recently honored at the United States Police Canine Association Region 14 Police Dog Certification held in Garden City, Kansas.

Deputy Mark Miller and his canine partner Axel and Deputy Brad Bengford and canine Falco; were among ten canine teams participating in the trial, said the Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Miller and Axel took ?Top Dog? honors at the trial, said deputues.

Deputy Miller and Axel took first place in the USPCA suspect tracking trial and narcotics detection trial, said deputies. According to USPCA records, no other canine team has scored first place in all three trials in a single year, said the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office

Following this event, Deputy Miller and canine Axel along with Deputy Brad Bengford and canine Falco are slated to receive the Jack Lennig Memorial Award for earning three USPCA certifications in one year, according to deputies.
