City Attorney Pat Kelly Retiring
After facing severe criticism from Colorado Springs Mayor Steve Bach, City Attorney Patricia Kelly has decided to retire.
Sources tell TARGET 13 Investigates that her last day on the job will be September 30th. Kelly has been with the city for more than 25 years.
She recently came under fire by former City Councilman Sean Paige for drafting a charter amendment that would take some power away from the new strong Mayor. .
Paige told TARGET 13 that the initiative, which was shelved by council, “took the wind from her sail.” He doesn’t think she was pushed out of her position, but believes that she became frustrated by the changes.
The mayor said in a statemented that he recognizes Kelly for more than 25 years of dedicated service to the City and wishes her the best.
Kelly is on the east coast dealing with the Banning-Lewis Ranch, according to people familiar with her schedule. She was not available for comment Friday afternoon.
Mayor Bach expects to appoint Ms. Kelly?s replacement in the near future.
Kelly?s departure comes after former City Clerk Kathryn Young announced her retirement earlier this year.
