Middle School Student Dies In Choking Game
The choking game has taken the life of 12-year-old GianLuc Jordan. He died August 17 after being taken off life support.
Jordan was playing the Choking Game at his home on August 13 when he was severely injured.
According to the CDC, the Choking Game is an act of suffocation on purpose. It can cause severe brain damage and even death.
Jordan was a seventh grader at Mountain Ridge Middle School in school district 20.
The district released this statement:
“Academy District 20 is deeply saddened by the loss of one of our students and extends its heartfelt sympathies to GianLuc’s family, friends and teammates. We support his parents’ efforts to raise awareness about the dangers encountered by our young people.”
