Baby Falls 2 Stories
An 18-month-old fell out of a two-story apartment in Pueblo.
Police said Alyssa Galena, 21, was responsible for her son Raymon Cervantes’ fall.
It happened on Crawford Street Monday about 7 p.m., but he baby wasn?t taken to the hospital till about1 a.m. Tuesday.
Police said Galena was at her friend?s apartment when the child fell. She told her friend she was going to the grocery store and left her two baby boys upstairs, according to police.
Police said her friend was downstairs when a neighbor saw the baby fall.
When Galena arrived back at the apartment, she had a bottle of liquor with her and it appeared she had been drinking, a neighbor told KRDO NewChannel 13.
According to police reports, Galena told police her baby was fine and didn?t need to be taken to the hospital. Her friend persuaded her to take the baby to the hospital around 1 a.m.
He was taken to St. Mary Corwin then moved to Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs with serious injuries.
?To dump her responsibilities on the lady who lived at that house is frustrating for our juvenile detectives who handle a lot of these cases,? said Sgt. Eric Bravo from the Pueblo Police Department.
Galena is facing charges of child abuse and violation of alcohol abuse.
A friend of Galena’s told KRDO NewChannel 13 that Galena’s youngest son, who is a few months old, was taken from her after t his incident.
