Teens Propositioned By Stranger
Two teen girls walking home from school said a strange man propositioned them. It happened Monday when they were walking near the intersection of Galley and Murray.
Decire Martinez and Janel Bouson say they walk home from Mitchell High School every day, but they won?t be doing that anymore, after a man told them he would pay them a dollar each to go into his apartment.
?He kept looking at us strange and I thought he was a creeper,? said Decire Martinez, 15.
?We kind of tried to avoid him,? said Janel Bouson, 15.
The girls were walking home from Mitchell High School when the man approached them.
?He asked us if we would go in the apartment with him for ten seconds for a dollar,? said Martinez.
?We kept walking and he was like well that was a good offer and kind of like gave it an attitude because we wouldn?t,? said Bouson.
The girls told Martinez?s grandfather when they got home. He called police.
?There’s quite a few kids walk by here,? said Marty Martinez. ?And so that’s an opportunity for him. Who knows when he’s going to take it to the next level. You just want to get somebody like this off the street.?
The girls got a good look at him and told police he was Hispanic, in his forties, with facial hair.
?He had a black backpack, a white hat and a red shirt,? said Martinez.
Colorado Springs police say they will step up patrols in the area.
