Facebook Fear Comes True For Pueblo Teen
A Facebook fear came true for a Pueblo West teen. Someone is pretending to be her.
Amanda Miller, 16, said someone is stealing her pictures and pretending to be her.
She is just one of millions of Facebook users. Her profile page is just like any other, but her story is very different.
?It has pictures of my son and derogatory things about me. It was bad and I was so embarrassed,? said Miller.
It all started when a friend asked her why she had two Facebook pages. People thought it was Miller, and while the picture on Facebook was a picture of her, she says she didn?t author the profile. A total of three fake Miller profiles exist, all with pictures of her and her family.
?I’m trying to turn my life around for the better,? said Miller.
She said that?s hard to do when people are pretending to be you, and what they?re saying isn?t positive.
?There was things like, ‘let’s go drink, let’s go smoke a bowl,’? said Miller.
She said that she thinks it?s one of her Facebook friends.
?Just because the pictures of my son are private (only her friends can see the pictures), but they were on the other Facebook profile,? said Miller.
The imposter left a message for Miller. It states, ?You definitely won?t figure out who I am.? The imposter could be right. Miller has over 1,000 Facebook friends and it could be any of them.
?It?s scary, you’re not safe and it makes you feel like you aren’t safe,? said Miller.
If you find a false profile on Facebook, you can report it to the site, and Facebook will decide whether to take it down. Miller has reported the false profiles she found.
She said she will also go through her list of online friends and remove some of them, and she might get rid of Facebook all together.
