Bear Tracked, Killed

A bear suspected of injuring two campers at separate campsites over the weekend was successfully tracked and killed Sunday morning.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife officers said, based on the location, behavior and description of the black bear given by campers, they are confident they tracked down the right bear.

Two campers were attacked while they slept in their tents at the Maroon Bells-Snowmass wilderness area.

Officers said the bear bit both victims, causing minor injuries to one and substantial injuries to another.

The bear will be tested for rabies and necropsied as part of the investigation.
