7 Arrested At DUI Checkpoint
A DUI checkpoint in Colorado Springs takes seven drunk drivers off the road according to police.
The Colorado Springs Police Department held their sobriety checkpoint Saturday night on the 2700 block of North Academy Boulevard, just North of Maizeland Road.
All southbound drivers were stopped by officers. Officers stopped 988 drivers, 11 of which were evaluated for driving drunk. Police said they arrested seven people on suspicion of DUI. Authorities said one person was arrested on charges of illegal possession of marijuana.
The checkpoint was part of the “100 Days of Heat” campaign. The campaign will continue through Labor Day weekend.
