Vista Ridge High School Announces Interim Football Coach

Officials at Vista Ridge High School in District 49 on Monday announced that interim head football coach would be Les Johnson, who has been an assistant coach for the team.

The announcement follows the firing on Friday of head football coach Dean Huffman. His firing came as a shock to players and parents. The school released a statement regarding the firing stating it wanted to go in a different direction, but gave no specifics.

Players, parents and students are circulating a petition in support of Huffman and a rally in support of Huffman is scheduled for Tuesday morning at the high school.

Johnson has been the defensive coordinator for the football team.
