AWOL Soldier Sought For Daughter’s Kidnapping

Police are searching for an AWOL army soldier who may have abducted his infant daughter from her Colorado Springs home.

Police were first alerted by workers with El Paso County’s Department of Human Services on August 4th.

They called police to report the dissapearance of 1-month-old Brooke Hembree.

It’s thought that Derik Hembree has violated his custody arrangement, and has taken the girl without permission.

There is currently a felony warrant out for Hembree; anyone with information is being asked to contact detectives at 444-7000.

It’s not clear which army post Hembree had ties to. A spokesman contacted on Monday says Fort Carson currently has no knowledge of this case.
