Sources: Vista Ridge Football Coach Fired

Several parents of varsity football players at Vista Ridge High School in Falcon District 49 are telling KRDO NewsChannel 13 head coach Dean Huffman was fired on Friday.

Upset players and parents gathered at the school Friday afternoon and expressed their frustration with the decision to NewsChannel 13.

No one from District 49 has returned our phone calls so far.

Players and parents were called into the school after we arrived and our news crew was told to leave the school property.

Falcon D-49 sent this letter home to parents Friday afternoon.

After a great deal of evaluation and discussion, Vista Ridge High School will begin the 2011 football season with a new coach. We have decided to take our student athletes in a different direction with our football program. The change in coaching stems from a philosophical difference of opinion on how the program should run.

Vista Ridge would like to thank Coach Dean Huffman for his commitment to the program. He has been our coach since the school opened, and we thank him for his more than three years of service to the Vista Ridge High School and District 49 communities.

We will be interviewing from within our own coaching staff to select an individual to serve as interim head coach for the remainder of this season. The head football coach position will be posted at the end of our season and Vista Ridge will begin the selection process for a permanent coach at that time.
