Search Continues For Armed & Dangerous Man
El Paso County Sheriff’s deputies said they continue to search for Corey Handy, 28, who is considered armed and dangerous.
Handy was charged with kidnapping and attempted murder after his ex-girlfriend told deputies that he kidnapped her and then tried to fire gunshots at her on Wednesday morning.
According to an arrest warrant, Jacqueline Maes, Handy’s ex-girlfriend, said he forced her into her own car and threatened her with a gun.
Maes told deputies that Handy said he was going to kill her or she was going to kill him.
According to the warrant, Maes was able to get out of her car and climb into a good samaritan’s car.
The woman who was driving had her two children inside the car. She told deputies that Maes fired four shots at her car.
Handy faces 17 charges, including kidnapping and four counts of attempted murder, for the Wednesday morning shooting.
According to state court records, Handy has been charged with domestic violence and attempted murder in the past.
He has plead guilty to assault. There was also a temporary restraining order against Handy in 2003 that was related to a domestic abuse charge.
Handy is also accused of criminal impersonation. According to an affidavit, his ex-brother-in-law said Handy may have used his identity to get treated for a stab wound and facial injuries at Penrose Hospital.
Sheriff’s deputies said they have found 2 cars and a motorcycle that Handy may have driven.
Handy is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, do not approach him and call 911.
