Slain Brothers Wayne, Aaron Fix Laid To Rest

Wayne and Aaron Fix, who were killed in the triple shooting on Mira Loma Circle on July 27, were buried on Saturday. Police said the gunman, Michael Arangio, didn’t know the three teens he killed and shot them because of road rage. Arangio took his own life three days later.

“The only thing I can tell you about these two boys is they were wonderful boys,” said Howard Fix, the brothers’ great uncle. “They had hearts bigger than life itself and the family is just really, really hurt by this tragedy.”

Hundreds of people came to remember the brothers at the Rocky Mountain Calvary Church. There were tears, but there was also a lot of laughter as family and friends shared stories about Wayne and Aaron. The brothers were described as jokesters who always had a smile to share.

“It was very obvious by the turn out that these boys were very loved by their friends and community, ” said family friend Lori Nussbaum.

Wayne had been planning a wedding with his fiance, the mother of his 2-year-old daughter Kimberly. His family said he adored his little girl.

“Wayne was an amazing kid, an amazing father,” said his friend Stacy Whelan. “He grew up to be a man within a six-month time period.”

Friends said Aaron was known for having a big heart and giving a lot of hugs.

“He was a really good kid, he was willing to stand up for his friends,” said Kaitlin Vincent, Aaron’s friend. “He was always so caring and a good person to talk to.”

The service ended with an outdoor balloon release. Hundreds of balloons filled the sky over the church, a reminder of just how many lives Aaron and Wayne touched.

“We appreciate the support from the community,” said Howard Fix. “It’s been very nice for us. We love them boys a lot.”

The other teenager killed with Wayne and Aaron, 16-year-old Austin Howse, was buried on Wednesday.
