Watermain Break Causes Sinkhole On Monterey Road

Colorado Springs Utilities crews restored water service to 5 apartment complexs and 4 fourplexes early Friday morning.

An 8-inch main pipe broke around 5:30 p.m. near Monterey and Shenendoah

The break created a large sinkhole, and Shenendoah is closed between Monterey and Arlington. The roads will remain closed through the morning drive.

Utilities crews suspect corrosion in the cast iron pipe caused it to break.
