Attempted Robbery At Springs Walgreens

Colorado Springs police are investigating an attempted robbery at the Walgreens store in the 900 block of North Circle.

It happened shortly before 2 a.m. Friday.

Police said a man came into the store wearing a fake beard and a mustache. He was also wearing an orange traffic vest, police said.

The store manager told police he saw a gun in the man’s backpack but the man never pulled out the gun.

The manager spotted the man as he walked in and quickly closed down the pharmacy. Police said they think the man was spooked and ran off before officers arrived.

Police credited the manager for acting quickly and safely, thus preventing the robbery.

The same store was successfully robbed in late May.

Police said a man with a similar description, also wearing a fake beard and mustache, got away with prescription drugs.

Officers said they can not yet determine if these two robberies are linked.
