Store Clerk Stabbed In Colorado Springs

A store clerk was taken to a local hospital Wednesday night after a stabbing at the 7-11 store in the South Gate neighborhood.

It happened just before 10, at the store on South Nevada Avenue.

Police say Michael Tapia got angry in the store and ended up stabbing the clerk.

The clerk is expected to be alright.

Tapia ran from his car when police arrived but police say they were able to identify him from belongings in the car.

Police caught up with Tapia early Thursday morning at his home.

He is being charged with assault in the second degree.
