Chase Ends With Car Hitting Building

A domestic violence suspect in Fountain slammed his getaway car into a building on Highway 85/87 trying to get away from El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputies.

Authorities said they responded to a call for help on Marquette Drive around 10 o’clock Friday night and observed 44-year-old Jose Fernandez speeding away. Deputies said Fernandez drove his van north on the highway past Academy Boulevard when he lost control trying to get around a car that was stopped and attempting to turn left.

Fernandez’ van clipped an oncoming car before hitting Bobby Brown’s Bailbonds building.

Detectives said no one was hurt in accident. Fernandez was taken to the hospital as a precaution then booked on several charges including evading arrest.
