Police Identify Man Officers Shot
Colorado Springs Police on Friday announced the identity of the man shot by officers at the Camelot Apartments Wednesday night.
The man is 21-year-old Robert Cole, said Colorado Springs Police.
Cole was shot by officers responding to a disturbance at the apartment after they spotted him in the parking lot with a gun and he made a threatening move, according to an account released by the Colorado Springs Police Department.
That happened about 8:30 Wednesday evening at the Camelot Apartments at 414 S. Murray Blvd, said police.
The investigation has revealed that officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance call where the caller indicated a man is fighting with his girlfriend and that he threatened to kill her, said police.
Three officers fired at Cole, police said.
At this point, it appears he was shot twice and he is currently in critical condition at an area hospital, police said.
Once released he will face charges to include Felony Menacing and Second Degree Burglary, police said. No officers were injured during the incident, according to police.
The investigation is being handled by the El Paso Country District Attorney’s office in conjunction with CSPD homicide detectives.
