Target 13 Investigates: Tenants Kicked Out After Short Notice

A community of apartment renters is getting the boot after getting just a few days notice.

The tenants said they are trying to fight it, but they can’t get any straight answers.

For Jon Rollf, the Midtown Apartments on 214 Wahsatch have one problem after another, but it’s a place to live, and the people are nice.

?The toilet leaks underneath it and the toilet moves. It is not even connected to the floor,? said Rollf.

Other tenants also told Target13 that the problems have been never ending, and that problems never get properly fixed.

On Wednesday, some papers were taped to the tenant?s doors indicating that residents had until August 1st at 1pm to leave the property.

Rollf said the late notice is just another slap in the face.

Midtown Apartments LLC owns the property. Target 13 has been told a man named Bruce Campbell set up the LLC.

Jason Gleaseman, a spokesperson for Midtown Apartments LLC said the apartments are going into foreclosure to the Air Academy Federal Credit Union.

Gleaseman said Midtown Apartments LLC was not required to give tenants a longer notice because none of them had a lease.

Target 13 asked tenants about their lease situation. Everyone said they originally signed a lease and were promised by Gleaseman a renewal when the original had expired, but that never happened. Tenants do not currently have signed leases.

Gleaseman said over the phone that they are willing to work with tenants, but couldn’t get specific except to say they might be willing to wait two more weeks.

Tenants said they don?t know what to believe because the paperwork says one thing and Gleaseman said another.

?I told him (Gleaseman), ?Hey man, we can’t do this.? He goes, ?Pay August rent and you will have until the end of August to get out.??

Target 13 investigates offered Gleaseman the chance at an on-camera interview, but he declined.
