Lightning Strikes Springs Home, Starts Fire

Firefighters say lightning sparked a fire at a house in the 1900 block of Kodiak Dr. in Colorado Springs Wednesday afternoon.

Neighbors said they heard a loud ‘boom’ when the lightning struck, and some ran from their homes to see what happened. The couple who lives in the house said they saw sparks under their front door, but didn’t realize that their home was on fire until neighbors let them know.

The blaze burned the attic of the house and firefighters had to hack into the roof to put out the flames.
