Springs Named ‘Best Value’ City By Kiplinger
Want the most bang for your buck? Colorado Springs is the place to be, according to Kiplinger’s Personal Finance.
The Springs came in at No. 4, behind Nashville, Tenn., Charlotte, N.C. and Omaha, Neb. respectively.
“Colorado Springs is proof that smart people flock to a diverse economy in a truly great outdoor setting wrapped in a happy vibe,” the magazine said.
“The city is home to five military bases that employ 10 percent of the workforce, and more than a dozen colleges. To keep employment numbers rising, the city woos companies with tax incentives and its highly-educated workforce. Colorado Springs also has affordable rents and living costs.”
So, how does Kiplinger’s come up with the criteria?
“We searched beyond traditional economic measures and included quality of life and the ability to tap people’s creative potential,” said Kevin Stolarick, research director who teamed up with the magazine for the report.
“Kiplinger’s staff members visited each of the top ten cities to help determine the final rankings,” he said
