Hiker Killed On Snowmass Mountain

A rock fall Sunday morning on Snowmass Mountain killed one hiker.

It was reported around 10 a.m. by hikers on the southwest side of the mountain.

Mountain Rescue Aspen paramedics reached Sean A. Wylam, of Denver, around 1 p.m. They tried CPR and rushed the 25-year-old to the hospital but he was pronounced dead at the medical center.

A Facebook page for Sean Wylam of Highlands Ranch showed an active outdoors enthusiast who was originally from Centralia, Washington. It featured pictures of Wylam atop Snowmass with the caption, “now to get back down.”

A spokesperson for the Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office thanked Flight for Life, Mountain Rescue Aspen, Aspen Valley Hospital and DBS Helicopter Service for their help in Sunday’s rescue effort.
