Man, 36, Dead; 9-Yr-Old Hurt After Motorcycle Crash

The Pueblo County sheriff’s office said a 36-year-old is dead after a traffic accident Thursday in Pueblo West.

An off-road motorcycle and a truck collided around 4:15 p.m. at the intersection of Homer and Tolstoi drives, deputies said.

The motorcyclist, identified as Brian Abeyta, 36, and his 9-year-old passenger were flown to Parkview Medical Center.

Deputies say Abeyta?s license was “revoked, habitual” at the time of the crash. Neither Abeyta or the young girl were wearing helmets, according to deputies.

Abeyta died Friday morning from his injuries, a release said.

The 9-year-old is now at Denver Children’s Hospital. Her condition Thursday was not immediately available.

No charges are being filed at this time and the accident remains under investigation, the sheriff’s office said.
