Car Crashes Into Arkansas River Over Weekend

The Colorado State Patrol said they’re investigating a car accident that left a car in the Arkansas River this weekend.

Troopers say it happened Sunday afternoon about 25 miles west of Canon City off of U.S. 50.

A car was headed eastbound at a high-rate of speed when it veered off the road and into the Arkansas River, troopers said.

There were two men inside the car, but both were out of the car and okay by the time emergency crews arrived. KRDO has learned the driver was a teenager, but there’s little information on the passenger.

Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the accident, troopers said.

No other information was made immediately available.
