Bookstore Bombing Suspect In Custody

Police say a man suspected of leaving two suspicious devices in a Colorado bookstore is in custody.

Chief Kevin Paletta said Tuesday that 30-year-old David Lawless seems to have acted alone and doesn’t appear to be connected with any terrorist group.

Police say Lawless was arrested Saturday on charges of drunken driving and resisting arrest after an accident in Clear Creek County west of Denver and is being held in jail there.

According to a separate press release from the Colorado State Patrol, it was a matching vehicle description that allowed police to make the connection between the two crimes.

The devices were found inside a Borders Book Store at Colorado Mills Mall in Lakewood after police responded early Saturday to a report of a break-in.

The Jefferson County Bomb Squad was called to the scene.

Police detonated the devices, causing minor damage to the store but no injuries.
