Dispensary Owners Let Out Frustrations
There are more than two dozen changes to the medical marijuana rules and guidelines. Among them, a $2,200 licensing fee.
On Friday morning, the city clerk’s office held a public hearing to discuss the proposals.
“It just boggles my mind,” said dispensary owner Jim Brandt. He said their industry is fighting a long list of battles from the federal to local level.
The Colorado Springs Medical Marijuana Cannabis Council is fighting to cut the duplication of the proposed licensing fee.
President Tanya Garduno said, as written now, owners would be charged a licensing fee for their shop and their grow facility totaling $4,400. She said many owners have already paid $500 for a pre-application fee.
Garduno is hoping the city clerk will address their concerns and come up with a reasonable agreement.
