Blood Drive Next Week For Woman Shot In Fountain

Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs is sponsoring a blood drive on Wed., June 1 for a woman hurt during a shooting in Fountain earlier this month.

The drive is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the El Paso County sheriff’s office training academy at 7741 E. Las Vegas St. The blood drive is open to the public.

If you’d like to donate, you should bring a photo ID and eat or drink something prior to donating. Donors will also receive a free cholesterol screening.

If you’re unsure if you’re eligible to donate, call the blood bank at Memorial Hospital at 719-365-5411.

Shannon Paolini was shot outside her Fountain home earlier this month. She was transferred out of ICU earlier this week and is slowly doing better, the sheriff’s office said.

If you can’t donate blood, but would like to make a monetary donation, you can visit any 5 Star Bank and ask to make a donation to the “Shannon Paolini Victim Fund.” You can also contact your current bank to ask for a wire transfer to the same account, the sheriff’s office said.
