AFA Holds Graduation Parades Monday, Tuesday
The Air Force Academy?s Cadet Wing has formal parades planned Monday and Tuesday as part of the Academy?s pre-graduation activities.
Monday’s parade begins at 10 a.m. at the academy’s Stillman parade field. Cadet squadrons will receive awards in categories of leadership, military, academics and athletics.
Tuesday’s parade begins at 9:30 a.m., also at the parade field. It will be the last parade for the class of 2011, as they turn over command of the cadet wing to the junior class.
Both will feature a falconry performance and airmanship demonstration before the parades begin.
Events Free, Open To Public
The academy said both events are free and open to the public. Tickets are not required, however seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. You’re asked to arrive early to allow time for traffic and the number of people expected to turn out.
Parking Information
Parking is available at the Cadet Field House, which is accessible through the academy’s north gate, exit 156B from I-25. There will be shuttle bus service to ferry attendees from the field house to the parade field, the academy said.
Handicapped parking will be available in the upper parade field parking area.
Security Details
The academy attendees should not bring large bags or backpacks to the parade.
Cameras, video cameras and binoculars are allowed, but you should be prepared to remove camera lenses for security inspection.
KRDO will have complete coverage of the graduation ceremonies on Wednesday. You can watch it LIVE in special coverage on KRDO.com.
