IPhone’s GPS Leads Deputies To Stolen Truck
A stolen truck with an iPhone on the front seat helped deputies lead them to a man wanted in connection with multiple car break-ins and burglaries in southeastern El Paso County.
Deputies said the car was stolen around 4:50 a.m. Tuesday from a driveway in the 9400 block of Pony Gulch Way. The car was left running while the owner was inside, deputies said.
Thanks to GPS software on the man’s phone, deputies were able to track the truck to the 4400 block of Lancaster Dr. in Colorado Springs.
The El Paso County sheriff’s office also found DVD’s, GPS receivers, drugs and cash inside the truck.
Deputies arrested Joshua Mitzelfelt, 29, in connection with the stolen truck, in addition to possession of a schedule II controlled substance. Deputies believe he may be connected to other crimes, including a garage burglary.
