Public Meeting Scheduled For US Women’s Open

The city of Colorado Springs and U.S. Women?s Open officials have organized a meeting to discuss an overview of the championship and inform the community of the operational plan and potential impact to those that live nearby.

The meeting will take place on Thurs., May 26 at 6 p.m. at the Broadmoor Colorado Hall. Free parking will be available at 1st Street and Lake Avenue, across from the hall.

Some of the topics on the agenda are the championship schedule of events, parking information, traffic plan and road closures. Officials will also be available to answer questions.

?We are thrilled to bring this exciting event to Colorado Springs and are confident the community will reap many benefits,? said Douglas Habgood, executive director.

?We have been working with City officials for over a year to get to this point. This meeting is designed to allow us to present the detailed plans and welcome feedback so that we minimize the impact on residents while maximizing the overall experience of our visitors,” he said.

The 2011 U.S. Women’s Open runs July 4 to 10 at The Broadmoor hotel in southwestern Colorado Springs.
