Lynch?s Sister: Hanif Sims Knocked Daughter Unconscious
Details about what Monique Lynch will say during Hanif Sims? murder trial at the end of the month are not being released, but TARGET 13 is learning it will deal with his abusive nature toward Lynch and his daughter, Genesis.
TARGET 13 first told you on Friday that Lynch would testify against Sims. She took a plea deal last week, and in exchange for her testimony, first-degree murder charges against her were dropped.
Sims had first-degree murder charges added last week. Sims and Lynch lived in the Monument home where 9-year-old Genesis? body was found last May. A plumber replacing a sump pump found her body in the crawlspace of the home, buried under some dirt.
Crystal Lynch, Monique?s sister, said her sister told her what happened the day of Genesis? death. She claims Sims beat the little girl so badly that the girl was disfigured.
?The next day Genesis wasn?t really the same, said Crystal. “Genesis was in the shower and Hanif went into the bathroom and she punched her and Genesis never got up,?
When asked why Sims would hit her that hard, Crystal only said that Sims had a history of abusing his daughter. She said that many times at family picnics Genesis would show off her bruises to people and say, ‘My daddy did this.’
?We would say to my sister, ?You need to leave him or tell somebody,?? said Crystal.
Crystal claimed that Sims was also abusive toward her sister.
?What I don?t understand is that if a woman is being abused by a man and he?s abusing his child, how do you expect her to save the child if she can?t save herself,? said Crystal.
She claims after the couple left the home in Monument and moved to California Sims told Lynch that if she called police he would kill her or her children.
?If she would leave the house he would tell her to leave one of the kids with him, because if you don?t come back I?ll kill them,? claimed Crystal.
Monique Lynch had two children, Devon and a baby boy.
?She knew (Monique) wouldn?t leave him without those kids; she was scared,? said Crystal.
Sims originally told police that Lynch killed Genesis and that she beat her with a belt.
Crystal denied her sister would ever hit a child. Devon told detectives that his mother did beat him with a belt, something Monique Lynch said was a lie according to the arrest warrant.
Crystal Lynch said she does think her sister should serve time in jail for the crime.
?No one is free of guilt. I believe all played a part and even if she was scared she should have taken some kind of initiative and done something,? said Crystal.
