Lamar Superintendent Quits After Review
Superintendent for Lamar district RE-2 schools, Charles Soper, quit his job Thursday. Soper left after a review meeting last week, the school board said.
Soper was on the job for less than a year. He replaced Dr. Wayne Graybeal who retired.
David Tecklenburg, who is currently principal at Lamar Middle School, has been appointed as interim superintendent. The announcement was made Friday during a special session, school board officials said.
Tecklenburg has ties to the Lamar community and was previously considered a “strong candidate” for the superintendent position last summer, officials said. Tecklenburg has coached high school volleyball for the last several years.
