New Computers Headed To Colo. Springs Libraries

Thanks to a $3.3 million grant for the state of Colorado, southern Colorado libraries will soon be sporting new computers.

Pikes Peak Libraries is one of 76 library districts in the state that will receive the money. Three libraries in Colorado Springs will receive about $150,000 to put towards new computers. Part of the money was matched by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the library district said.

As part of the grant, Penrose library will receive 24 new desktop computers and 15 laptops. Sand Creek and Cheyenne Mountain libraries will both get 12 new laptops.

The grant will also help in computer training, the library district said.

Ribbon-cutting ceremonies for each of the libraries will happen in early May.
