Murder For Hire Plot?

Douglas County Sheriff?s Deputies arrested three men on Saturday for the murders of Armara Wells and Robert Rafferty.

Joshiah Sher, 26, Matthew Plake, 26, and Michah Woody, 29, were questioned Saturday, then taken into custody on suspicion of first-degree murder.

Investigators have had their arrest affidavits sealed and are being tight lipped about the investigation.

Deputies said last week the bodies of Wells and Rafferty were found early Wednesday morning after Wells? 6-year-old daughter went to a neighbors home to get help.

The coroner said the two died of stab wounds and blunt force trauma.

Wells was staying at Rafferty?s home after leaving her husband, Christopher Wells. The couple was in the process of getting a divorce. Rafferty is the borther-in-law of Wells.

Christopher was arrested last week on charges of violating a restraining order. Investigators believe he was in jail at the time of the murders. He was charged with suspicion of first-degree murder on Saturday.

TARGET 13 has learned that Sher, Woody and Christopher Wells once worked together at a local car dealership.

The owner of Rocky Mountain Auto Brokers verified that all three worked together, but he said that Wells left the company almost a year ago.

TARGET 13 has also confirmed that two of the men also worked at Pikes Peak Acura.

Douglas County Investigators did question employees of both dealerships last week.

TARGET 13 has learned that a former employees of a local dealership sold a gun, possibly used in the crime, to Woody.

Two unnamed sources, who didn?t have permission to speak with the media, told TARGET 13 that investigators believe Woody was behind the crime.

Both sources also said Plake is the one who drove the car to Castle Rock.

TARGET 13 went to the homes of Sher and Woody Monday night.

Neighbors of Woody, who didn?t want to be named, said he was a ?good kid? and ?taught his kids good values and morals.? He has been separated from his wife for the past six-months.

Woody’s Facebook page said he offers this “philosophy” comment: “Being a pacifist between (sic) wars is like being a vegitarian (sic) between meals.”

KMGH-TV in Denver reported Sher was arrested in July 2005 for assault, domestic violence and harassment in Colorado Springs. In 2008, he was arrested for drunken driving.

His latest arrest came in July 2010 when he was picked up for speeding, driving with a revoked license and being a habitual offender.

Court records also show Plake has been issued several citations for driving with a suspended license. A landlord trying to evict him from his apartment sued him, according to court records.

Plake’s Facebook page had a photograph of him in a Navy sailor uniform. The page said Plake studied to be a heating ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration technician last year at Intellitec College.

Sher appears in a green camouflage uniform holding an infant in a photo on his Hi5.com profile. It’s unclear what branch of the military he was in.

Sher and a woman had a baby boy, according to a 2003 Colorado Springs Gazette birth announcement.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office said this is still an active investigation and anyone who has additional information in the case is asked to call the tip line at 303-660-7579
