4 Arrested In Castle Rock Double-Homicide
The Douglas County sheriff’s office said they arrested four people this weekend in connection with a homicide investigation in Castle Rock.
Deputies arrested Josiah Sher, 26, Matthew Plake, 26 and Micah Woody, 29. They’re being held without bond on first degree murder charges. The fourth person, Christopher Wells, was previously arrested on other charges, but now faces first degree murder charges, as well.
Robert D. Rafferty Jr., 49, and Amara Wells, 39, were found dead in the home in the 2400 block of Marlin Way last Wednesday morning. The two died from sharp force injuries, according to the Douglas County Coroner. Sharp force injuries are defined as stab or chop wounds. It was not known how long the two had been dead.
Amara Wells’ estranged husband, Christopher Wells, was arrested Tuesday at his home in Monument on a restraining order violation.
Amara had filed for divorce and was staying at the home of Robert Rafferty and Tamara Wells Rafferty, her in-laws.
Documents obtained by Denver’s KMGH showed Amara Wells had a restraining order against Christopher Wells. According to court records, he was accused of violating a protection order on Jan. 21. The records show he has violated multiple restraining orders.
KRDO Newschannel 13 has confirmed Christopher Wells’ Monument home is under short sale. Investigators were allowed in the home Wednesday.
Christopher Wells remains in the Douglas County Jail on $1 million bond.
The crime scene remains an active investigation by detectives, according to the sheriff’s office. It should remain that way through Tuesday.
