Air Force Academy Skydiving Teams Grab Gold

U.S. Air Force Academy skydiving teams won multiple gold medals last week at the 2010 U.S. Parachute Association National Collegiate Parachuting Championships.

The competition took place at Skydive Arizona in Eloy, south of Phoenix.

Nearly 100 collegiate skydivers from around the country put their books aside over the winter break to compete at the national championships, pushing their aerial skills to the limit and competing for the title of national champion in four spectacular skydiving disciplines: Formation Skydiving, Vertical Formation Skydiving, Sport Accuracy, and Classic Accuracy.

The Air Force teams dominated much of the competition, bringing home the gold in the following events: 4-way open formation skydiving, 2-way vertical formation skydiving, intermediate and masters sport accuracy, intermediate and masters classic accuracy, and team classic accuracy.
