New Plan For Old Golf Course
and a greener economy. that.. after a two year pause. only on 13… scott harrison brings us a live update on the vineyard development… this is where the vineyard golf course used to be, on south janitell road along i-25. it closed to make way for an office park. but the economy changed and led to some interesting and exciting changes in the project. the vineyard commerce park now is being called the vineyards data center. the landowners have changed the project to reflect the slumping economy and take advantage of a promising opportunity. “given the attributes of our location, it became very clear that we have a unique site for development of sustainable data centers–an industry that’s growing like crazy throughout the nation right now.” the project has two purposes… to build several data centers for storing and processing information. .. and to build a facility to generate energy from trash and other waste… making the vineyards a green development that’s sought by major companies locally and nationally. the project proposes other benefits… such as creating up top 400 jobs… generating a billion dollars in property tax revenue for the city… and giving the city 46 acres of open space… the city, springs utilities and uccs are partners in the project. and it got a favorable response from the urban renewal authority. “it impacts the entire region, and not just a special few. so as i said, i’m very enthusiastic about it.” the next step is a blight study to prove the project deserves urban renewal support. the landowners hope to start and finish construction next year, if everything works out. reporting live in the springs–scott harrison,
