attention and causing a stir in the teller county town of divide. the signs criticize president obama and his policies. krdo newschannel 13’s scott harrison reports live from the newsplex with that, new on 13. we’re told the signs went up saturday outside a closed gas station at the intersection of highways 24 and 67. they were posted by a year-old conservative political group based in woodland park. why would someone put up a large array of anti-obama signs in a highly- visible location, then cover them with a blue tarp? that’s the question divide residents are asking this week. “they were putting the frames up saturday.” joseph kain owns a gift shop across the street and is a member of the chamber of commerce. he says saw two men working on the signs saturday. under the tarp, you can still see one of the messages: do you dare to oppose obama care? “i find them quite objectionable. there has to be something said about community standards. it shows a gentleman in a questionable position.” the signs belong to gotcha gators dot com, a woodland park conservativ e group. the website has some of the same messages on the signs, such as: this is your stimulus package. the group did not return our phone call tuesday. a local democratic party leader views the signs with a sense of humor. “at the end of the day, what they’re saying is silly. they have a right to do it. what’s unfortunate, i think, is they’re so genuinely uninformed on who is actually looking out after their interests.” we also learned the property owner is renting space to the group for the signs… and that the owner saw some of the signs and had no objection to them. reporting live in the newsplex–scott harrison, krdo newschannel 13. a kentucky senate debate
