MMJ Dispensary Helps Patient Walk Again

A medical marijuana shop is helping a patient get back on his feet. On Saturday Epic Medical Caregiver celebrated raising $5,000 to buy Ronald Teeters a prosthetic leg. Teeters accidentally shot himself when he was unloading his gun from the car.

“I accidentally hit the trigger when I went to hit the safety,” Teeters recalled.

It happened two years ago, and he’s been on crutches ever since. Teeters didn’t have health insurance.

About eight months ago, Teeter’s medical marijuana dispensary decided to step in. Epic Medical donated $2,500 and raised $2,500 more from its patients. Teeters has already been fitted for his prosthetic and said he should be walking within two months. enough to buy teeters a prosthetic.

“I can live my life again, I can get up and walk,” he said. “I can finally do the things I long to do. There have been a lot of things I can’t do now.”

Epic Medical wants to continue helping its patients, and will start a new fund raising effort soon.

“We’re going to try to find the next person with the most need and continue on with this,” said Jay Menessary, operation manager at Epic.

He hopes other dispensaries will take note.

“If several others businesses in this same industry were to maybe follow the same example, we could help a lot of people,” said Menessary.
