Impact Flash Floods Had On Southern Colo.

Flash flooding hit the Colorado Springs area hard Tuesday night. Here is a rundown of some of the reported problems:

30 residents at the Winslow Court Retirement Community on East San Miguel Street were moved to different rooms because of water damage.

The northbound lanes of North Academy Boulevard in the area of Portal Drive were reopened. That’s near the Citadel Mall. The road had been closed because of 3-feet of water.

There were reports a car droven into the Entertainmart near the Citadel Mall. There were no reports of injuries.

There were reports of cars stalled in water in the area of Palmer Park Boulevard and Murray Boulevard.

Colorado Springs firefighters headed to a business on Tuskegee Place where water was reportedly flooding inside. That’s just east of Powers Boulevard off of Palmer Park Boulevard.

Two horses are expected to be alright after a crash on I-25 near Uintah Tuesday evening. Firefighters said a car may have hydroplaned and crashed into a vehicle towing a horse trailer. The two horses in the trailer had minor injuries.

There were also reports of a car floating down the street on Bassett Drive near South Circle Drive and Airport Road.

Firefighters were also called to Galley Road and Academy Boulevard for a van stuck in the water.

Around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office tells NEWSCHANNEL 13 it received two reports from citizens of a tornado in the area of Grinnell and Powers. Security firefighters responded and found no damage.
