Trackers Find Signs That Missing Otter’s Still Around

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) – The zoo hasfound the first signs that a North American river otter thatescaped in March is alive and in the area.

Four trackers found otter tracks in mud beneath an overpass inthe area Wednesday morning.

The otter, named Kitchi, is one of four that escaped March 25from the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo through a hole in the fence around azoo enclosure. Three of the otters were recaptured and returned totheir pen, but Kitchi remains at large.

Kitchi weighs about 25 pounds and is about 4-feet long. Otterscan range as far as 100 square miles, but will stay around waterwhen they can.
