Arrest Affidavit: Lawrence Has ‘Strong Interest’ In Teen Girls

COLORADO SPRINGS -AColorado Springs man accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girlhas a “strong interest in high school age girls and younger” according to an arrest affidavit obtained by NEWSCHANNEL 13.The arrest affidavitdescribes ingraphic detail the way in which 30-year-old David Lawrence allegedly assaulted a 14-year-old runaway girl at least 20 times. Police say in addition to sexually assaulting the teen over a 4-month period, Lawrence also gave the girl alcohol, marijuana and meth. The girl told police Lawrence would even take her along on trips to buy and sell marijuana. According to the affidavit, one of Lawrence’s roommates says Lawrence would often look at pornographic pictures of girls approximately 13 or 14 years old. The roommate also says Lawrence would point out girls approximately 12-years-old at the mall and describe them as “hot.”Police found the runaway girl in Lawrence’s apartment at 319 E. Brookside St. on the Springs’ south side in November. Another one of Lawrence’s roommates says she called the girl’s mother after walking in on Lawrence and the teen apparently having sex. That roommate told police she believes she also had oncebeen assaulted by Lawrence while in her sleep. She did not report the incident to police at the time.

Springs police arrested Lawrence earlier this week on suspicion of sexual assault on a child, pattern of abuse and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Investigators believe there may be additional victims of sexual abuse linked to Lawrence. Anyone with information about possible additional victims is asked to call police at 719 444-7000.
